Abstract

Production of restriction enzymes is widespread among soil streptomycetes. More than 15% of fresh soil isolates showed this ability. Of eight strains showing enzyme activity, seven formed isoschizomers of AsuII. Enzymes with such specificity were not previously found amongst streptomycetes.
