When Captain James Cook arrived in New Zealand he brought with
him a wave of biotechnology inventions that were to pave the
way for many traditional bioprocesses in New Zealand. This is
not to say that James Cook was the first to use biotechnology
in New Zealand. Many Maori processes and technology can be
classed as biotechnology processes.
