Introduction
Australia's genetic manipulation regulatory body, the Genetic
Manipulation
Advisory Committee (GMAC), was established in 1988. GMAC currently produces
three sets of guidelines: Guidelines for Small Scale Genetic
Manipulation
Work for small scale contained research, Guidelines for Large Scale
Genetic Manipulation Work for contained work with volumes greater than
10 litres, usually industrial scale, and Guidelines for the Planned
Release of Genetically Manipulated Organisms for releases of live
genetically modified organisms into the environment (field trials).
