Introduction
The system for regulating foods in Australia and New Zealand is in a
state of transition as both countries move toward a system of joint standards
which will be developed and maintained by the Australia New Zealand Food
Authority (ANZFA). ANZFA was created under an Agreement (the Treaty) between
the governments of Australia and New Zealand in December 1995 and is now
in the process of developing a joint Australia New Zealand Food
Standards Code.
