Resumo

Objetivo: Apresentar a teoria das representações sociais, situando sua epistemologia e conhecendo os conceitos fundamentadores de sua abordagem estrutural como unidade de conhecimento para estudos em saúde.
Justificativa: A utilização desta teoria advém da necessidade de compreender os eventos sociais sob as lentes dos significados construídos pela coletividade.
Síntese dos dados: Tratou-se de um estudo descritivo de revisão da literatura, que utilizou como fonte de obtenção de dados os autores clássicos das representações sociais corroborados por artigos oriundos de busca eletrônica na Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS). A definição e discussão dos dados coletados oportunizaram apresentar dois eixos temáticos, versados sobre a história e epistemologia das representações e acerca da abordagem estrutural das representações nos estudos em saúde.
Conclusão: Esta revisão possibilitou evidenciar a relevância de localizar os objetos de estudo no tocante às questões contextuais dos históricos individuais e coletivos, com valoração da pluralidade de relações, para nos aproximarmos da realidade que é representada pelos sujeitos.

 en Social representations: a theoretical approach in health

Abstract

Objective: To present the theory of social representations, placing its epistemology and knowing the basic concepts of its approach as a structural unit of knowledge for health studies.
Justification: The use of this theory comes from the need to understand social events under the lens of the meanings constructed by the community.
Data Synthesis: This was a descriptive study of literature review, which used as a source of data collection the classical authors of social representations supported by articles from electronic search at Virtual Health Library (VHL). The definition and discussion of collected data enabled to introduce two themes, versed on the history and epistemology of representations and on the structural approach of representations in health studies.
Conclusion: This review allowed highlight the importance of locating the objects of study with regard to contextual issues of individual and collective histories, valuing the plurality of relations, to come closer to reality that is represented by the subjects.
