 pt ACIDENTE OCUPACIONAL POR MATERIAL PERFUROCORTANTE ENTRE ACADÊMICOS DE ODONTOLOGIA

Resumo

Objetivo: Avaliar a prevalência de acidentes de trabalho entre os acadêmicos do Curso de Odontologia da Universidade Federal do Espírito Santo, Brasil, no semestre letivo de 2010/1. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo analítico transversal, realizado com uma amostra aleatória de 159 sujeitos, que tiveram a oportunidade de responder a um questionário autoaplicado, com 28 questões sobre biossegurança, acidentes de trabalho, vacinação. Resultados: Dentre 153 alunos que responderam ao questionário, 42 alunos (27,5%) afirmaram já ter sofrido algum tipo de acidente. Destes, 2 (5,1%) cursavam entre o primeiro e o quinto período, enquanto 38 (50,7%) estavam matriculados entre o sexto e nono período (p=0.000). Dez (23,8%) não utilizavam equipamentos de proteção individual no momento do acidente. Somente 4 (9,5%) dos estudantes acidentados fez registro pela Comunicação do Acidente de Trabalho; um grande número de acadêmicos, principalmente nos períodos iniciais, declararam vacinação deficiente. Conclusão: É significativo o número de acadêmicos acidentados, especialmente do sexto ao nono períodos, sendo as lesões do tipo perfurocortantes as mais prevalentes.

 en Occupational accidents with sharp devices among dental undergraduate students

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the prevalence of accidents among the students of Dentistry College in Federal University of Espírito Santo, Brazil, in the first academic semester of 2010.Methods: This is an observational cross-sectional analytical study, with a random sample comprising 159 students, given the opportunity to respond to a self-administered questionnaire, with 28 questions about biosafety, occupational accidents and vaccination. Results:Among 153 students who filled the questionnaire, 42 students (27,5%) asserted having suffered some kind of accident. Proportion of accidents among students attending from first to fifth academic semester was 5,1% (n=2), reaching 50,7% (38 students) among the ones attending from sixth to ninth semester (p=0,000). Ten (23,8%) students reported not using individual protection equipment at the time of the accident. Only 4 (9.5%) students have registered their injury by the Occupational Accident Communication.Conclusion:The number of injured students is significant, mostly among the ones attending from sixth to ninth semester, and accidents involving needlestick or cut with sharp devices were the most prevalent.
