ENVIRONMENTAL SAFETY IN ‘ÁGUAS EMENDADAS’ ECOLOGICAL STATION IN THE FEDERAL DISTRICT Almeida, Alexandre Nascimento de; Andrade, Bruno Gonçalves de; Soares, Philipe Ricardo Casemiro & Angelo, Humberto Abstract Conservation Units (CUs) have ecological and economic importance and, in Brazil, are divided into two categories: full protection and sustainable use. Within the CUs of full protection are the Ecological Stations (ECST), typology where public visitation is prohibited and that demands an effective security apparatus so that its ecological function is achieved. Thus, the objective of the study was to analyze the security of ‘Águas Emendadas’ Ecological Station (AEECST). To do so, from the responses to the questionnaire applied in person to the Environmental Military Police (EMP) of AEECST, it was used the regression analysis to identify the determinants that affect the working conditions of the security in the unit. In addition, it was evaluated the profile of EMP from AEECST by descriptive statistics and investigated working conditions in the unit by correspondence analysis. The determinants for effective security of ESECAE were the contingent size followed by the appreciation of the police by the administration and, finally, the amount of equipment needed to carry out the work of the EMP in the unit. The results showed that the AEECST battalion is experienced and in sufficient quantity, excepting the lack of some basic equipment, in general, working conditions in the unit are satisfactory and the safety is effective, ensuring the limitations of use in the area provided by law. SEGURANÇA AMBIENTAL NA ESTAÇÃO ECOLÓGICA DE ÁGUAS EMENDADAS NO DISTRITO FEDERAL Almeida, Alexandre Nascimento de; Andrade, Bruno Gonçalves de; Soares, Philipe Ricardo Casemiro & Angelo, Humberto Resumo As Unidades de Conservação (UCs) possuem importância ecológica e econômica e, no Brasil, são divididas em duas categorias: as de proteção integral e as de uso sustentável. Dentro das UCs de proteção integral se encontram as Estações Ecológicas (ESEC), tipologia em que a visitação pública é proibida e que demanda um efetivo aparato de segurança para que a sua função ecológica seja alcançada. Assim, o objetivo deste trabalho foi analisar a segurança da Estação Ecológica de Águas Emendadas (ESECAE). Para tanto, com base nas respostas de questionários aplicados pessoalmente à Polícia Militar Ambiental (PMA) da ESECAE, empregou-se a análise de regressão para identificar os determinantes que afetam as condições de trabalho da segurança na unidade. Além disso, foi avaliado o perfil da PMA da ESECAE por meio de estatística descritiva e investigadas as condições de trabalho na unidade pela análise de correspondência. Os determinantes para a segurança efetiva da unidade foram o tamanho do contingente seguido pela valorização dos policiais pela administração e, por último, a quantidade de equipamentos necessários para a realização do trabalho da PMA na unidade. Os resultados revelaram que o batalhão que protege a ESECAE é experiente e em quantidade suficiente e, exceto pela carência de alguns equipamentos básicos, em geral, as condições de trabalho na unidade são satisfatórias e a segurança é efetiva, garantindo as limitações de uso na área previstas em lei.
