Abstract

The critical revision of field collected samples and material preserved in herbaria IRBR, MO, MY, PORT, US and VEN, allowed to identify 8species of the genus Melochia L. in the Sucre state, which are located predominantly in the warm zones. Melochia caracasana check for this species in other resources Jacq., Melochia nodiflora check for this species in other resources Sw., Melochia parvifolia check for this species in other resources Kunth, Melochia pyramidata check for this species in other resources L. and Melochia tomentosa check for this species in other resources L.turned out to be the species of ampler distribution in the Sucre state. Melochia melissifolia check for this species in other resources Benth. is registered as a new contribution to the knowledge of the flora of the state. Resumen

La revisión crítica de muestras recolectadas en el campo y de material preservado en los herbarios IRBR, MO, MY, PORT, US y VEN, permitió ubicar 8 especies del género Melochia L. en el estado Sucre, las cuales se localizan predominantemente en las zonas cálidas. Melochia caracasana check for this species in other resources Jacq., Melochia nodiflora check for this species in other resources Sw., Melochia parvifolia check for this species in other resources Kunth, Melochia pyramidata check for this species in other resources L. y Melochia tomentosa check for this species in other resources L. resultaron ser las especies de más amplia distribución en el estado Sucre. Melochia melissifolia check for this species in other resources Benth. se registra como un nuevo aporte al conocimiento de la flora del estado. Se presenta una clave, descripciones e ilustraciones de cada especie.
