The objectives were to determine the SP and EM of the sunflower meal (SM) in diets for Leghorn roosters. The experiment was developed in the laboratory of the Colegio de Posgraduados and the Facultad de Ingeniería y Ciencias, in order to increase the SP of the SM was subjected to different treatments (TRE) time 0, 15, 30, 45 and 60 min by keeping constant temperature (121° C) and pressure (1.55 kg cm²-1), then determine the SP. 18 Leghorn roosters of 8 months age were used for the determination of the EM. The SP turned out to be best in the 30 min TRE (P < 0.01; 26.5%). EM values were not affected (P > 0.05) by the TRE, observed values were 3,230, 3,531, 3,196, 2,859 and 3,335 kcal kg-1 for 0, 15, 30, 45 and 60 min, respectively. Solubilidad de la proteína y energía metabolizable de la pasta de girasol en dietas para gallos MARTÍNEZ GONZÁLEZ, Juan Carlos; URBINA TAVARES, Lucio; CUCA GARCÍA, Manuel & SALDÍVAR FITZMAURICE, Abelardo Resumen La determinación de la solubilidad de la proteína (SP) y de la energía metabolizable verdadera (EMV) de ingredientes utilizados en la alimentación de pollos de engorda, es una práctica importante para la formulación de raciones. El objetivo fue determinar la SP y EMV de la pasta de girasol (PG) en dietas para gallos Leghorn. El experimento se desarrolló en el Laboratorio del Colegio de Posgraduados y de la Facultad de Ingeniería y Ciencias, con el fin de aumentar la SP de la PG se sometió a diferentes tratamientos (TRAT) de tiempo 0, 15, 30, 45 y 60 min manteniendo constantes la temperatura (121° C) y la presión (1,55 kg cm²-1), para luego determinar la SP. Para la determinación de la EMV se utilizaron 18 gallos Leghorn de 8 meses de edad. La SP resultó ser mejor en el TRAT de 30 min (P < 0,01; 26.5%). Los valores de EMV no fueron afectados (P > 0,05) por los TRAT, los valores observados fueron 3.230, 3.531, 3.196, 2.859 y 3.335 kcal kg-1 para 0, 15, 30, 45 y 60 min, respectivamente.
