Resumen

MOLINA DE FERNÁNDEZ D, SOTOV A, BARAZARTE H. 2004. Susceptibilidad a insecticidas piretroides en cepas de campo de Rhodnius prolixus check for this species in other resources Stål (Hemiptera: Reduviidae) de Venezuela. Entomotropica 19(1):1-5.

Abstract

MOLINA DE FERNÁNDEZ D, SOTOV A, BARAZARTE H. 2004. Susceptibility to pyrethroid insecticides in strains of field caught Rhodnius prolixus check for this species in other resources Stål (Hemiptera: Reduviidae) from Venezuela. Entomotropica 19(1):1-5.

A study was carried out to determine susceptibility to insecticides in strains of field caught Rhodnius prolixus, the most important vector of Chagas' disease in Venezuela. Insects were treated by topical applications of 0.5 ml acetone solutions of the pyrethoid insecticides, lambdacyhalothrin and deltamethrin at different doses. The resistance ratio for each insecticide was calculated as the quotient of the LD50 value for the field derived colony divided by the LD50 value obtained for the corresponding susceptible "Chagas" strain. All field strains showed susceptibility to evaluated pyrethroids. Strains from Barinas, Cojedes, Lara and Portuguesa were susceptible to deltamethrin with resistance ratio of 0.2; 0.4; 0.1 and 0.7X, respectively. Lambdacyhalothrin was evaluated for the Barinas, Cojedes and Portuguesa strains, and showed resistance ratios, between 0.3 and 0.7.
