Abstract

Anopheles (Nyssorhynchus) nuneztovari Gabaldón, 1940, an important vector of malaria in the southern slopes of the Andes in Venezuela, is reported for the first time from Bolívar state, were the principal vector is A. darlingi. The presence of this species in this area has important eco-epidemiological implications with respect to citotype identity and malaria epidemiology in the region.

Resumen

Se reporta por primera vez en el sur del estado Bolívar, Venezuela, Anopheles (Nyssorhynchus) nuneztovari Gabaldón, 1940, importante vector de malaria en el pie de monte andino del país. La presencia de este vector en el estado Bolívar, donde el vector principal es A. darlingi, tiene implicaciones eco-epidemiológicas importantes con respecto a la identidad del citotipo presente y agrega un elemento adicional a la epidemiología de la malaria en la zona.
