MOISSANT E, TKACHUK O, ROMAN R. 2004.

Abstract

MOISSANT E, TKACHUK O, ROMAN R. 2004. Detection of bacterial agents from adults of Musca domestica check for this species in other resources (Diptera: Muscidae) collected in Maracay. Aragua State, Venezuela. A preliminary study. Entomotropica 19(3) 161-164.

The aim of the present paper was to detect bacterial agents in adults of Musca domestica collected in Maracay, Aragua State, Venezuela. The specimens were singly captured with special domestic traps for flies in three environments: barn with animals, garbage room and fast food restaurant. 27 adult flies were collected from which seven made spontaneous self seeding in BHI agar medium. The bacteriological results indicate the presence of gram negative aerobic bacteria belonging to the Enterobacteriaceae. From the seven specimens tested, the followingbacteria were identified: Citrobacter check for this species in other resources spp. Enterobacter check for this species in other resources spp. and E. Coli in two adult flies captured in the barn with animals, Enterobacter spp. in two from the garbage room and E. coli in three captured from the restaurant. The role of the M. domestica as a transmission vehicle for gastroenteric and others diseases in our environment is discussed.
