The importance of the presence of lipids in insects has been
taken into account for many years. The lipids travel throughout the
hemolymph from the midgut to the fat body and other organs, and this
also occurs in mammals in a similar way; they associate with
proteins transforming into the hemolymphatic lipoproteins or
