Abstract

Qualitative investigation of descriptive-interpretative type, approached with orientations of the founded theory, starting from the constant comparison of the information of 11 semistructurated interviews applied to pregnant women of scarce resources, belonging to urban and rural areas, and interned in Hospital San Rafael in Tunja, Colombia. The central objective was guided to investigate about the life conditions of the pregnant women with maternal risk, so that gender inequities they have to face in the family and the society, could be visualized. Once the interviews were transcribed, and categories coded and extracted, previous sifted and combination of these, the defined central category was conformed and defined as maternity like conflict, in a socioeconomical, cultural and ideological context in which these pregnant women live. This category is related to other subcategories defined as forced, reproached and fought maternity, in an atmosphere of masculine power relationships, expressed in a yoke of dominance and marginality.
