Jorge Salazar Abstract For many people in the world, asthma is their health problem. Diagnosis and treatment are different depending on the magnitude of compromise and the cause that produces inflammatory reaction in the lungs. The prevention and the treatment will be better while people and patients are conscious of the need of avoiding determined expositions in the environment and use drugs with adequate frequency. General practitioners know the physiology and pathology of this disease and the mechanisms of action of different drugs. The aerosol therapy should be better understood for avoiding collateral effects in the patients and giving them the best life quality. Asma bronquial. Estado del arte Jorge Salazar Resumen Para infinidad de personas el asma es su problema de salud. El diagnó stico y el tratamiento varí an dependiendo de la magnitud del compromiso y la causa que produce la reacció n inflamatoria en los pulmones. La prevenció n y el tratamiento será n mejores si la població n y los pacientes reconocen la necesidad de evitar determinadas exposiciones ambientales y el uso de medicamentos con la frecuencia necesaria. Ahora los mé dicos generales conocen mejor la fisiologí a y patologí a de esta enfermedad y los mecanismos de acció n de los diferentes medicamentos. El tratamiento con aerosol debe comprenderse mejor para evitar efectos colaterales en los pacientes y darles una mejor calidad de vida.
