Abstract

The purpose of the present investigation is to obtain the cephalometric measures of women with characteristic facial pleasant in Colombia. They took lateral X-rays of skull to 60 participants of the National Competition of Beauty during 1997 and 2001. Each X-ray underwent had traced by two oral and maxillofacial radiologists and the investigators digitized it with a software (JOE 32). The results low paired samples of 26 variables were analyzed in patient with dentofacial abnormality. Of these only 3 (11.4%.) they coincide with the norm, in 6 (23.1%) there were differences of 1° ; 9 (34.7%) they presented difference of 2° ; 2 (7.7%) they differed in 3° ; and 6 (23.1%) in more than 4° . It was not significant the statistical difference among the lines of the two radiologist. The final results confirm the hypothesis that the cephalometric measures in women with characteristic facial pleasant they are different to those used of routine, and they show a tendency of compensation and to a esqueletal class II.
