Abstract

Objectives: To identify lymphoid hematological malignancies (the malignant lymphoid blood diseases) met, and to establish their main cytological and epidemiologic characters.
Methods: The study proceeded from 2004 to 2010 in two laboratories of medical biology of Kinshasa. The method of study was the examination of smears of osseous marrow of patients with lymphoid hematological malignancy, after medullary puncture and coloring. The studied variables were cytological and epidemiologic.
Results: We had 122 patients divided into 76 men and 46 women who presented lymphoid malignancies. The entities met according to the order of importance were: 45% of multiple myeloma (MM); 23.8% of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL); 15.6% of acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), ex-æquo with the malignant lymphomas. The incidence by age brackets showed that the ALL had their peak between 10-19 years, the MM appeared starting from forty with a peak beyond 60 years, like the CLL. The lymphomas had a uniform distribution through the various age brackets, in spite of one excess to the about sixty.
Conclusion: The whole of the lymphoid hematological malignancies presented an ascending and bimodal curve of distribution, which had a small peak in the twenties and a large peak about sixty. The extreme age was 2-102 years.
