Abstract

In this study, the antimicrobial activities of methanolic extracts and latex of some Euphorbia check for this species in other resources species used for medical purposes in Turkey were investigated. The extracts of Euphorbia aleppica L. check for this species in other resources , Euphorbia szovitsii check for this species in other resources Fisch.&Mey. var. harputensis Aznav. ex M. S. Khan, Euphorbia falcata L. check for this species in other resources sub. falcata var. falcata, Euphorbia denticulata check for this species in other resources Lam., Euphorbia macroclada check for this species in other resources Boiss., Euphorbia cheiradenia check for this species in other resources Boiss.&Hohen, Euphorbia virgata check for this species in other resources Waldst.&Kit., Euphorbia petiolata check for this species in other resources Banks&Sol. were prepared with methanol. The antimicrobial activities of these extracts were examined on test microorganisms as follows: Staphylococcus aureus check for this species in other resources COWAN 1, Bacillus megaterium check for this species in other resources DSM 32, Proteus vulgaris check for this species in other resources FMC 1, Klebsiella pneumonia check for this species in other resources FMC 5, Escherichia coli check for this species in other resources ATCC 25922, Pseudomonas aeruginosa check for this species in other resources DSM 50071, Candida albicans check for this species in other resources FMC 17, Candida glabrata check for this species in other resources ATCC 66032, Epidermophyton sp. check for this species in other resources and Trichophyton sp. check for this species in other resources by the disc diffusion methods and well agar method. The MIC values of extracts were determined according to the broth microdulitions method. Results indicated that extracts of Euphorbia species inhibited the growth of tested microorganisms in the different ratio. Also, the MIC values of extracts were determined as 31,2-1000 μg.
