Resumen

Los Hongos son capaces de convertirse en oportunistas dentro de centros hospitalarios ocasionando enfermedades en pacientes inmunosuprimidos. El objetivo fue Determinar la presencia de Flora Fúngica en las áreas internas del Hospital “Dr. Adolfo Prince Lara” Puerto Cabello- Estado Carabobo, se evaluaron: Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos, Quirófano, Sala de Emergencia de Adultos, Sala de Emergencia de Niños y Hospitalización Pediátrica. Las muestras fueron obtenidas usando las técnicas: Sedimentación en placa e Hisopado, la identificación de las colonias se realizó por examen Macroscópico: aspecto, color, forma, tamaño y Microscópico utilizando: Cinta Adhesiva Transparente, Tinta China y Tubo Germinativo. Se encontró un total de 102 UFC por la técnica de Sedimentación en placa y 223 UFC por la de Hisopado. La incidencia fue: Levaduras (67,4%), Curvularia lunata (8%), Micelia Esterilia (6,5%) y Aspergillus niger (5,9%). Las áreas de mayor contaminación fúngica fueron Emergencia Adultos, Emergencia Niños y Unidad de Cuidados Intensivos.

Abstract

Fungi are capable of becoming opportunists inside Hospital Centers leading to disease in the immune-compromised patients. The objective of this work was to determine the presence of fungal flora in the internal areas of "Dr. Adolfo Prince Lara Hospital" Puerto Cabello, Carabobo State, Venezuela. Intensive Care Unit, Surgical theatre, Adult Emergency Unit, Children Emergency Unit and Pediatric wards were evaluated. Samples were obtained using the following techniques: Sedimentation in plaque and swabbing. Identification of colonies was carried out through Macroscopic examination: aspect, colour, shape, size and Microscopic exam were done, using Transparent Sticking Plaster, Chinese Ink and Germinative Tube. A total of 102 UFC were found using plaque sedimentation technique, and 223 UFC using swabbing. The incidence was: yeasts (67, 4 %), Curvularia Lunata (8 %), Micelia Esterilia (6,5 %) y Aspergillus Niger (5,9 %). The most contaminated areas were Adult Emergency, Children Emergency and Intensive Care Units.
