Abstract

Thyroiditis, or inflammation of the thyroid gland, involves a diverse group of disorders characterized by some form of thyroid inflammation. These diseases include processes that produce an acute illness with severe thyroid pain and processes where there is relatively little inflammation, manifested primarily by thyroid dysfunction. In the medical field it is of great importance to know the history behind each disorder, because thanks to these great discoveries, a database has been established for future researchers to perfect past research and discover new diseases, as well as new forms of treatment. Each type of thyroiditis has a specific historical origin, and the objective of this work is to locate each one according to their appearance in time and their etiology, in order to get a clear vision of how its study has evolved over time.
