Cardiometabolic Biomarkers and Anthropometric Indicators of Obesity in School Adolescents Cordero M., Raimundo E.; Rodríguez, Armando; Hernández, Claudia I.; Méndez, Erika; Pifano, Cristina & Infante, Benito Abstract The objective of this study was to determine the prevalence of alterations in cardio metabolic biomarkers, anthropometric indicators of body adiposity and its level of partnership in school adolescents. Biochemical indicators were quantified in serum samples from 122 subjects and estimated anthropometric indicators in a sub group of 89 subjects. Male adolescents were heavier, taller and had greater waist circumference than girls, but did not differ in cardio metabolic parameters. It was found, 24.7% of overweight and 4.5% of obesity with a 7.9% and 10.1% in status of high risk in waist and index waist circumference size respectively. The categories of high Col-T, LDL-C and Tg were below 20% and the serum concentration of HDL-C arose in the borderline of 79% of the subjects. The association between Anthropometry and cardio metabolic Indicators was only significant for the categories of BMI and waist size with HDL-C and atherogenic indices.
