Barroso M., Eyleen M. & Cassuso, Juani Resumen En vista de la importancia de los trastornos del sistema nervioso central, se decidió determinar la incidencia de malformaciones congénitas del Sistema Nervioso Central en recién nacidos hospitalizados en el servicio de Neonatología Dr. Rafael Tortolero del Hospital Dr. Adolfo Prince Lara, en el período enero 2010 - septiembre 2015. Se realizó un estudio de tipo cuantitativo, con un nivel descriptivo, no experimental, retrospectivo y de corte transversal. El universo consistió de 3739 neonatos y la muestra de 18. Resultados: la incidencia de ciemopatia fue 5 casos por cada 1000 recién nacidos vivos. El sexo femenino predominó 72% y el tipo de ciemopatia más común es mielomeningocele con 33%. Las complicaciones predominantes son infecciones urinarias 50%. El mayor número de malformaciones en RN con peso 2600-3500 gramos con 66%. No se encontró asociación con malformaciones de otros aparatos y sistemas en 72%. Incidence of Malformations of the Central Nervous System in Newborns seen at the Neonatology Unit of Hospital Prince Lara Puerto Cabello, Carabobo State, Venezuela Barroso M., Eyleen M. & Cassuso, Juani Abstract In view of the importance of central nervous system disorders, it was decided to determine the incidence of congenital malformations of the Central Nervous System in newborns hospitalized in the neonatology service Dr. Rafael Tortolero of the Dr. Adolfo Prince Lara Hospital in January 2010 - September 2015. A quantitative study was carried out, with a descriptive, non-experimental, retrospective and cross-sectional level. The universe consisted of 3739 neonates and the sample of 18. Results: The incidence of ciemopathy was 5 cases per 1000 live births. The female sex predominated 72% and the most common type of ciemopathy was myelomeningocele with 33%.
