Estimación del riesgo de desarrollar Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2. en pobladores del Municipio San Diego, Estado Carabobo, Venezuela Leal, Ulises; Guzmán, Krisskelly; Hernández, Anmary; Espinoza, Milagros; Coccione, Santina; Fernández, Yolima & Kuder, Haifah Resumen El objetivo de la investigación fue estimar el riesgo de desarrollar Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2 (DM2), en adultos residentes en el Municipio San Diego, del Estado Carabobo - Venezuela. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo, transversal, de muestra intencional, conformada por 749 individuos adultos y de ambos sexos. Se aplicó un cuestionario conocido por sus siglas como Findrisk, que estimó el riesgo de desarrollar DM2 en los próximos 10 años. El test contenía las variables con un determinado puntaje asignado por un modelo de regresión logística multivariado. Los resultados muestran que el (45,2%) de los participantes presentaron un riesgo moderado de padecer DM2, un 15,4% presentó riesgo alto y de estos el 1,2% obtuvo 20 puntos o más. Se concluye, que los sujetos estudiados, evidencian una frecuencia mayor al 50% de desarrollar DM2 en los siguientes diez años. Estimated risk of developing Diabetes Mellitus type 2 in inhabitants of Municipio San Diego, Estado Carabobo, Venezuela Leal, Ulises; Guzmán, Krisskelly; Hernández, Anmary; Espinoza, Milagros; Coccione, Santina; Fernández, Yolima & Kuder, Haifah Abstract The objective of the investigation was to estimate the risk of developing type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2) in adults living in the municipality of San Diego, Carabobo State, Venezuela. A descriptive, cross-sectional study of the intentional sample was performed, consisting of 749 adult individuals of both sexes. A questionnaire or risk test was used, known by its initials as Findrisk, which estimated the risk of developing DM2 in the next 10 years. The test contained the variables with a given score assigned by a multivariate logistic regression model. The results show that (45.2%) of the participants had a moderate risk of DM2, 15.4% had a high risk and of these, 1.2% had 20 points or more in the Findrisk test. It is concluded that the results found in the studied subjects show a frequency greater than 50% of DM2 in the following ten years. Keywords Diabetes Mellitus type 2; risk assessment; Findrisk test
