Abstract

In a randomized design, there were studied some phenologic indicators and in vitro nutritive value of Dichrostachys cinerea check for this species in other resources plants with heights of 30.72, and 153 cm, during dry season. There were selected three plants of each height and cut and weighed whole and fractioned in leaves plus petioles (L+P) and stems (S). Samples of L+P fraction and of its younger sprouts were taken for chemical and in vitro gas production analysis, respectively. The stem’s thickness, number of branches and proportion of leaves indicators presented high variability. Crude protein on the fraction L+P reached values between 14.7 and 17.7%, and neutral detergent fiber oscillated between 26.7 and 32.3%; however, total extractable poly-phenols surpassed 12.0%. In vitro gas production was 30% higher in the samples incubated with poly-ethylene glycol 4000. The height of plants did not have much influence in the nutritive value’s indicators, but did have it on the number of branches and plant weight. The nutritive value of younger sprouts was affected by the presence of tannins. The study of phenologic indicators and nutritive value of D. cinerea in different environmental conditions is recommended.
