Abstract

The use of silvopastoral systems has been indicated as an alternative use for the recovery of degraded areas in the Amazon region. In the northeast of Pará, Brazil, producers have used grazing in forest plantations, especially paricá ( Schizolobium amazonicum check for this species in other resources Huber), with pastures of Brachiaria humidicola check for this species in other resources being used by cattle. The aim of this study was to analyze economically this silvopastoral systems (SPS) compared to forest monoculture (FM) using economic indicators: Internal Rate of Return (IRR) and Net Present Value (NPV). The results conclude that the SPS is economically more attractive than the FM. Thus, the adoption of such systems must be stimulated in the region as an overcome activity of the FM.
