Con la finalidad de evaluar algunos parámetros físicos y químicos del follaje de seis especies de plantas leñosas de valor forrajero para vacunos ( Coccoloba check for this species in other resources sp., Guazuma ulmifolia check for this species in other resources , Inga check for this species in other resources sp., Machaerium check for this species in other resources sp., Samanea saman check for this species in other resources y Senna pallida check for this species in other resources ) presentes en un bosque seco tropical semideciduo ubicado en el estado Portuguesa, Venezuela, fueron colectadas muestras mensuales durante la época seca. Las muestras se correspondieron con la fracción comestible ingerida por 10 vacunos Bos taurus check for this species in other resources x Bos indicus check for this species in other resources (390,4 kg PV) en silvopastoreo.

Abstract

In order to evaluate some chemical and physical parameters of foliage of six trees and shrubs with forage value for cattle ( Coccoloba check for this species in other resources sp., Guazuma ulmifolia check for this species in other resources , Inga check for this species in other resources sp., Machaerium check for this species in other resources sp., Samanea saman check for this species in other resources y Senna pallida check for this species in other resources ) located in a tropical semideciduous dry forest located in Portuguesa state, Venezuela were collected monthly samples during dry season. Samples corresponded to the edible fraction of plants consumed by 10 cattle Bos taurus check for this species in other resources x Bos indicus check for this species in other resources (390.4 kg LW) in silvopastoril conditions. For the species considered (16.0% CP, 51.4% NDF, 1.8% Ca, and 0.1% P), the particle density (0.26 g MS/mL), particle size (0.31 mm), water holding capacity (3.2 mL/g MS), organic matter (11.3%) and mineral (53.9%) solubilisation were within the literature range for fibrous material, with an important variation among species (P<0.01) related to the cellular wall contend and the chemical composition of foliage evaluated. Together with others strategies of chemical and biological valuation, the systematization of this information could contribute to establish the relationship between passage and degradation rates of these resources, and consequently, between intake and fibrous materials utilization in silvopastoril systems with ruminants.
