Vigilancia epidemiológica de la brucelosis bovina en la Parroquia Buria, Municipio Simón Planas, estado Lara. Periodo 2006-2007 Mosquera, Ortelio; Freitez, Rocío & Rumbos, Ana T. Resumen Se realizó un programa de vigilancia epidemiológica de brucelosis bovina en la Parroquia Buria, Municipio Simón Planas, estado Lara, Venezuela, durante los años 2006-2007, mediante la prueba de anillo en leche (PAL). Posteriormente, las muestras de sangre positivas de los animales fueron analizadas con la prueba serológica oficial (card test) y con las técnicas complementarias, aglutinación lenta en tubo y 2-mercapto etanol. Los resultados permitieron identificar 17 explotaciones reactoras a la PAL (8%), diez de las cuales reaccionaron con tres y cuatro cruces y el resto con dos cruces, mientras que 194 fincas resultaron negativas a la enfermedad. Entre los factores de riesgo incluidos, como empresa láctea, tipo de ordeño, vacunación, numero de la muestra y superficie de la finca, no se encontró asociación estadística (P>0.05), pero en cuanto al tamaño del rebaño, la prueba de correlación de rangos de Spearman mostró asociación estadística (P<0.05). La concordancia entre la prueba PAL y la prueba oficial y 2-mercapto etanol fue muy buena entre las fincas que reaccionaron con tres y cuatro cruces y la concordancia fue buena al incluir todas las fincas reactoras. El bajo número de fincas reactoras a la prueba de anillo en leche y su concordancia con las pruebas complementarias permiten recomendar que esta técnica sea incluida en el programa, de manera de avanzar en la creación de áreas libres de la enfermedad, apoyado con un incremento de la cobertura de vacunación, un control estricto del ingreso de ganado a esta Parroquia y fortalecer la capacitación de los productores sobre el impacto de esta enfermedad en la salud pública y en la producción animal Palabras-clave Vigilancia epidemiológica, brucelosis bovina, prueba del anillo en leche

Abstract A program of epidemiological surveillance of bovine brucellosis was conducted in Buria County Buria, Simón Planas Municipality, Lara state, Venezuela, during the years 2006 and 2007, through the milk test ring (PAL). Later, positive blood samples from cattle herd animals were tested with the official serological test (card test) and with complementary techniques, standard tube agglutination and 2-mercapto ethanol. The results identified 17 farm reactors to the PAL (8%), ten of whom responded with three and four crossings and the rest with two crosses, while 194 sites were negative for the disease. Among the risk factors, including dairy company, type of milking, vaccination, number of samples, and area of land, no statistical association was found (P>0.05), but for the size of the herd, the Spearman's rank correlation coefficient showed statistical association (P<0.05). The agreement between PAL test, test card, and 2-mercapto ethanol was very good among the cattle herds which reacted with three and four crossings and a good match for all cattle herds that included reactors. The low number of cattle herds reactors to the PAL and its agreement with the complementary tests allow to recommend this technique to be included in the program, the creation of areas free of the disease, supported by an increase in vaccination coverage, strict control of bovine entry to the county and to strength the training of producers on the impact of this disease on public health and animal production.
