This slim book based on an international symposium held in Munich in March 1999. However it does not have an ephemeral look generally seen in this genre of publications. Bioenergetics of tumours is an important aspect of cancer biology. The study of tumour oxygenation is one part of it.
This slim book includes chapters on human tumour oxygenation, modulation of oxygenation, erythropoeitin in radiotherapy, influence of hypoxia on malignant progression and VEGF mediated tumour angiogenesis. The book given an overview of the prevalent knowledge. Most of the chapters are well written by experts in the field. The book is more for people who have a reasonable knowledge of the subject. The articles are eminently readable albeit being brief.
