Hansen, Mack Roach III The field of Radiation Oncology is undergoing immense technological revolution since the past few decades. Management of cancer patients in Radiation Oncology is not only based on radiation but also requires a thorough knowledge of medical oncology and surgical oncology. These new paradigms, which are evolved in the recent past, demand that radiation oncologists have a clear-cut knowledge in order to practice these innovative techniques and modalities for the treatment of cancer. The text book ′Handbook of evidence-based Radiation Oncology′, edited by Eric K. Hansen and Mack Roach III, provides a comprehensive review of all types of cancers - radiation, surgical and medical oncology - and clinical practices and experience of various reputed institutions all over the world; and various recent trials add to the essence of the book. First of all, the editors have concentrated to provide the readers a wide outlook of all types of cancers with respect to all the three modalities in a concise manner, which will definitely give a thorough knowledge of clinical practices to the freshers in the field. The editors are keen to provide the readers all the basic concepts of each and every type of cancer in the form of epidemiology, anatomy, pathology, workup, staging and management. In management, the guidelines on techniques of radiation - conventional, 3D conformal and IMRT - have been dealt with in detail for each and every type of cancer, with the critical organ tolerance dose with respect to each malignancy. Treatment recommendations are provided based on stage and evidence. They also describe the complications and follow-up. All recent trials with respect to stage and types of cancers in one table provide the rationale for treatment recommendations. In the last few chapters, they describe the dose and use of different drugs which are commonly used in day-to-day practice, pediatric tumors, radiation safety measures, tumor markers and brachytherapy in brief. So, the beauty of this book is that it describes all the three modalities of treatment - evidence based and stage-wise - in tabulated form with recommendations, which is not found in any other single book. It is a very good effort on the part of the authors, which is appreciable and very useful to upcoming students and clinical practitioners. This is a book which has to be read by all those who practice Radiation Oncology clinically, and it is a book to be owned by every Radiation Oncology department.
