The Indian skin is as unique as white or black skin and understanding it is very important. Hence, a book authored by an Indian is more than welcome.
Dermatology is one of the most sought-after specialty. It is curtains for a laid back approach with lotion and vaseline.
JIPMER, Pondicherry, is a leading institution with a wealth of clinical material and hungry, enquiring minds. Dr Thappa, in his book titled "Essentials in Dermatology," has marshaled the available resources.
The book targets students who would like to choose dermatology as their career and the MCQ spells the book′s agenda.
The book has been updated to meet the current needs. The next edition will hopefully roll back in time and include separate chapters on topical therapy and systemic drugs (at present, it exists as topical formulary and key systemic drugs) commonly used by the dermatologist.
Authored in brisk, no nonsense, almost telegraphic style, the book, with an atlas-like good quality illustration, meets the felt need, is worth the time spent in reading and, needless to say, is worth the money.
