Dr. U. S. Agarwal and Dr. S. R. Shukla have met with their objective of a simple and illustrated book on common dermatologic problems encountered in children. The authors have succeeded in presenting their material in the form of easily readable headings and subheadings. The boxed key points add to the usefulness of this book for undergraduates, general practitioners, internists and postgraduates interested in taking a quick look at a topic without being bothered by an in-depth review.

The extensive use of photographs has added value to the text. The occasional spelling mistake and average quality of some of the photographs is something I am sure the authors will take care of in the next edition.

I was especially impressed by the authors′ incorporation of the chapters on care of the skin in infants, dermatologic drug therapy and dermatological emergencies in newborns.

In conclusion, the authors have been able to bring out a cohesive and easily readable text on pediatric dermatology illustrated with several photographs.
