Germany Reviewed by R. J. Minina Book Details ISBN 3-13-116551-1, 406 pages, The book is concise and yet very informative and fulfils the need for it as every point discussed therein is illustrated in a very precise, schematic manner and the diagrams themselves are self-explanatory. The different hues and colours used in them makes it easy to scan through them which is a definite plus point in its favour. The title in essence explains what the book has to say and yes, it does cover the pathophysiology of every system and cell organization in the body. The book is outstanding in the way it deals with the different topics.
However, I would like to emphasize that it may be useful more as a reference book since the reader has to have an overall knowledge of biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, physiology, pathology, neurotransmitters, etc. This can be a shortcoming, in a way, as it may not be very useful to an average student or maybe an undergraduate student.
Not withstanding the above shortcoming, the book in essence fills the need for a comprehensive study of pathophysiology, especially the colour atlas of it. I personally recommend it to the enlightened student.
The cost is a bit prohibitive, but since most textbooks in medicine are highly priced these days, the cost should not be a deterrent. This article is also available in full-text from http://www.jpgmonline.com/ Copyright 2000 - Journal of Postgradate Medicine |
