Issue 37 is here. Please enjoy it.

Let me remind you to contact Prof Gordon Robertson (whom I had the pleasure to meet at the IUFoST Congress in Capetown) if you wish to contribute a case study on food safety to an online book.

Also some scientists complain that we take too long to publish their papers, or to inform them of the status. I wish to apologise. There are just 3 of us working on this journal. My role is completely free, and I do not mind as I view it as my legacy. There are two others: Mr Michael Okumu, the technical manager who works on this on a parttime basis, and Ms Emily Kavesa, the Editorial Assistant whom we are also supporting through college. We try to engage interns also, to learn the process and to help with some of the basic functions. Now, because it is a peer reviewed scholarly journal, every article must go through the peer review process and sometimes this takes time. It goes through minimum 2 peer reviewers, and must also go through technical review. We are quality assured by Bioline International at the University of Toronto.

Since we started to publish monthly, about 2 years ago, we have been able to manage quite a bit of the backlog. We continue to face financial challenges. I need funds to maintain the hosting online, to give some pocket money to interns, and to pay my office staff. We shall soon approach our supporters to make financial contributions to sustain the journal. MEANTIME, please write and tell us how this journal has contributed to your professional growth.

Thank you all for your understanding and support.
