Published by PHI Learning Private Ltd., New Delhi, India Year: 2011 Pages: 764 Cost: [INSIDE:1] 625/- This is a single-author textbook wherein Professor Navneet Kumar has strived to give an in-depth analysis of the neurological disorders in a comprehensive manner, based on his vast experience in dealing with them. Needless to say, he has relied on various reviews and articles in standard textbooks and journals to authenticate his text and incorporate the recent advances. Throughout this text, the author has adopted a simplistic and systematic approach to the diagnosis and treatment of various neurological states and disorders, maintaining a steadfast clinical orientation. The text material is profusely supplemented with diagrams, photographs, tables and algorithms to elucidate the concepts and make understanding easy. Topics relevant to our subcontinent such as neurocysticercosis, neurotuberclosis, malaria and nutritional deficiency disorders have been given importance and suitably dealt with. The chapters on epilepsy and sleep and pain disorders should prove useful to post-graduates in medicine, pediatrics and psychiatry for whom this textbook is primarily oriented. The author does not purport to provide an exhaustive review of the neurological disorders like other multi-authored textbooks but has instead aimed at providing a comprehensive and yet a reasonable in-depth study adequate to the needs of post graduates in the allied specialties The maxims provided at the end of each chapter serves to highlight the features discussed therein. The references provided as "suggested reading" at the end of each chapter are well chosen and recent and will fulfill the needs of the user who seeks more extensive knowledge. This book would be handy and useful for those students and practitioners who are looking for a comprehensive and a clinical management oriented text on neurological disorders.
