Sir,
This is in reference to the paper "Closure of
Large Pressure Ulcers Utilizing the Principles of
Limberg Flap"(1) published in Ind J Plast Surg 2001; 34: 57-61.
Limberg flap is an excellent method for coverage
of sacral pressure sores. It provides a good padded
skin cover with suture line away from the midline and
donor defect is closed directly. We have been using
this technique since 1993 and reported "Use of
Limberg Flap for Closure of Sacral Pressure Sores"(2) in five
cases published in Ind J Plast Surg 1994; 27: 72-75. The
size of the flap ranged from 6cms to 12cms depending
on
size of the defect which ranged from 3.5-4.5cms to
9-10cms. The authors Kumar P and Bhaskra KG (1)
seem to have overlooked our contribution while
reviewing the literature.
