A review of the methodology recommended by the World Health
Organization for the use of molluscicides for the control of
snail vectors of schistosomiasis is presented. Discussion of
the principle molluscicides used, their advantages and
disadvantages, the techniques and equipment required for their
application and evaluation of effect as well as the
biological control of snails is included.
