ABSTRACT. Seven actinomycete strains isolated in the Yunnan
province (South-West China) were investigated and compared
with representatives of the genus Kitasatosporia. On the basis
of a numerical taxonomy study of twenty-nine characters, one
strain was attributed to the genus and one to Microtetraspora.
The remaining isolates are distinct from Kitasatosporia and
have been temporarily placed in a kitasatosporioides group
of the genus Streptomyces.
