Abstract

Tiape Gómez Z, Savini V. 2001. The genus Megascelis check for this species in other resources Latreille, 1825 (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Eumolpinae) in Venezuela. Entomotropica 16(2):89-125.

The genus Megascelis Latreille, 1825 and the species: M. amabilis check for this species in other resources , M. frenata check for this species in other resources , M. brunnipes check for this species in other resources , M. mucronata check for this species in other resources , M. puella check for this species in other resources , M. crenipes check for this species in other resources , M. socialis check for this species in other resources and M. vittata check for this species in other resources are redescribed; the last three species are recorded for the first time for Venezuela. The following species are described as new: M. proteus check for this species in other resources n. sp., M. altamira check for this species in other resources n. sp., M. fusipes check for this species in other resources n. sp., M. fissurata check for this species in other resources n. sp., M. miranda check for this species in other resources n. sp., M. anisobia check for this species in other resources n. sp., M. carbonera check for this species in other resources n. sp., and M. yepezi check for this species in other resources n. sp. A key is given to separate the Venezuelan species of the genus.

Se redescriben el género Megascelis Latreille, 1825 y las especies venezolanas: M. amabilis check for this species in other resources , M. frenata check for this species in other resources , M. brunnipes check for this species in other resources , M. mucronata check for this species in other resources , M. puella check for this species in other resources , M. crenipes check for this species in other resources , M. socialis check for this species in other resources y M. vittata check for this species in other resources ; las tres últimas son nuevos registros para Venezuela. Se describen ocho (8) especies nuevas: M. proteus check for this species in other resources n. sp., M. altamira check for this species in other resources n. sp., M. fusipes check for this species in other resources n. sp., M. fissurata check for this species in other resources n. sp., M. miranda check for this species in other resources n. sp., M. anisobia check for this species in other resources n. sp., M. carbonera check for this species in other resources n. sp., y M. yepezi check for this species in other resources n. sp. Se presenta una clave para la identificación de las especies venezolanas del género.
