Abstract

The museum of Cardiovascular Pathology of the Section of Cardiovascular Pathology of the pathology Institute of "Dr. Jose Antonio O' Daly", it is formed by 902 specimens of which, 730 pieces are conserved in formalin to 10% (Humid Archive) and 172 pieces are including in paraffin, in addition to a collection of 104 valves cardiac prosthesis (Dry Archive). The greater group is formed by specimens of autopsy with pathology congenital (n=584) and acquired (n=96) and 50 biopsies. For 46 years, the museum remains conserved and is maintained by the pathologists. With the material of the museum works have been published, thesis of ascent of cardiologists and pathologists, teaching to post-degrees of pathology is distributed, cardiology and cardiovascular surgery. This museum is a permanent institution whose basic objectives are: the conservation, investigation and diffusion of anatomical pieces with diverse cardiac pathologies and you will it, fruit of long investigations and studies. We hoped that it contributes to a fundamental ethics that it are expressed with the conservation, the exhibition and education of the cardiovascular pathological anatomy to the service of the Venezuelan society and possibly to the one of other countries.

Resumen

El museo de Patologia Cardiovascular de la Sección de Patologia Cardiovascular del Instituto Anatomopatológico "Dr. José Antonio O'Daly" (IAP) está formado por 902 especímenes de los cuales 730 piezas están conservadas en formalina al 10% (Archivo húmedo) y 172 piezas están incluidas en parafina, además de una colección de 104 prótesis valvulares cardíacas (Archivo seco). El grupo mayor está formado por especímenes de autopsia con patología congénita (n=584) y adquirida (n=96) y 50 biopsias. Desde hace 46 años, el museo permanece conservado y es mantenido por los patólogos. Con el material del museo se han publicado trabajos, tesis de ascenso de cardiólogos y patólogos, se imparte docencia a postgrados de Patología, Cardiología y Cirugía Cardiovascular. Este museo es una institución permanente cuyos objetivos básicos son: la conservación, investigación y difusión de piezas anatómicas con diversas patologías cardíacas y vasculares, fruto de largas investigaciones y estudios. Esperamos que contribuya a una ética fundamental que se expresa con la conservación, la exhibición y enseñanza de la anatomía patológica cardiovascular al servicio de la sociedad venezolana y eventualmente a la de otros países.
