Abstract It is presented a reflexion about the indirect valorization of the quality of the scientific articles through the valorization of the publishing journal and the impact on the author curriculum. It follows an inventory and production of the main Venezuelan journals dedicated to the agricultural sciences (animal sector) for the 1990 to 2000 period. It was determined the number of articles, and as result, it was presented a characterization of the scientific journals. To conclude, the situation of the journals was discussed facing the main worldwide recognized indexes and how this influence the future of the national journals. NOTA TÉCNICA - Estudio de las publicaciones periódicas venezolanas de las ciencias agrícolas. Área zootecnia y veterinaria. Período 1990-2000 Simón Arenas S. Resumen Se presenta una reflexión sobre la valoración indirecta de la calidad de los artículos científicos, a través de la valoración de la revista que lo incluye y el impacto sobre el curriculum de los autores. Se continúa con un inventario y producción de las revistas venezolanas dedicadas a las ciencias agrícolas (sector animal), con el objetivo de esbozar la producción de los principales órganos de difusión de la investigación de este sector, para el período 1990 al 2000. Se determinó el número de artículos y como resultado se ofrece una caracterización de las revistas científicas. Para concluir se esboza la situación de las revistas frente a los grandes índices de prestigio mundial y como ello influencia en el futuro de las revistas nacionales.
