Producción Forzada Mediante Deshoje y Recorte de Brotes en Chirimoyo (Annona CherimolaMill.) Razeto , Bruno M. & de Valdés , Evelyn Díaz I. Resumen En chirimoyos (Annona cherimola Mill.) vigorosos var. Concha Lisa de 5 años, ubicados en un sector de clima abrigado de Hijuelas, V Región, Chile, se realizó deshoje total y poda a comienzos de agosto de 1997. Durante diciembre se polinizaron manualmente 25 flores por árbol. A mediados de ese mes se eliminó el ápice en todos los brotes, quedando de 10 yemas de longitud. También se procedió a rebajar 20 brotes sin flores por árbol dejándolos de 4 yemas, de las cuales se deshojaron las 2 terminales. Estas yemas deshojadas, rápidamente emitieron flores y brotes mixtos con una a dos flores cada uno. Estas flores fueron polinizadas en número de 45 por árbol, durante febrero de 1998. La primera floración dió origen a un promedio de 16 frutos por árbol, cosechados el 17 de julio y el 26 de agosto de 1998. La segunda floración originó 32 frutos por árbol, más lisos y simétricos que los anteriores. La cosecha de éstos se realizó el 3 y 24 de noviembre de 1998. En árboles adyacentes, no deshojados y sin rebaje de brotes, sólo se obtuvo la producción normal de primavera. Los resultados permiten vislumbrar la posibilidad de aprovechar mejor el potencial productivo de esta especie y, al mismo tiempo, ampliar considerablemente el período de cosecha. Forced Production of Cherimoya (Annona CherimolaMill.) by Defoliation and Pruning of Shoots Razeto , Bruno M. & de Valdés , Evelyn Díaz I. Abstract Five-year-old Cherimoya (Annona cherimola Mill.) trees of the Concha Lisa variety located in a protected site at Hijuelas, Vth Region, Chile, were totally defoliated and pruned in early August 1997. During December, 25 flowers per tree were hand pollinated. In mid-December tips were eliminated on all shoots, which were left 10-buds long. As well, 20 flowerless shoots per tree were headed back to four-buds length; the last two of which were defoliated. These leafless shoots rapidly developed flowers and buds with one or two flowers each. Forty-five of these flowers per tree were hand-pollinated during February 1998. The first flowering gave rise to an average of 16 fruit per tree, which were harvested on July 17 and August 26, 1998. The second flowering produced 32 fruit per tree; these fruit were smoother and more symmetrical than the former, and were harvested on November 3 and 24, 1998. In neighboring, non-defoliated trees, whose shoots were not headed back, only the normal spring cropping was obtained. These results enable us to envision the possibility of better utilizing the productive potential of this species and lengthening the harvest period considerably.
