Pauline R. Kezer once said- "Continuity gives us roots, change gives us branches, letting us stretch and grow, and reach new heights." It is this change- or rather, this vital ingredient- that the Journal of Postgraduate Medicine (JPGM), now in its 51st year, adds by the way of this new student section.

It has been generally observed, that due to the frequency and competitiveness of examinations, there is hardly any focus on undergraduate research and an ignorance about the possible avenues for it among Indian students. The main objective of the JPGM is, thus, to make the common undergraduate aware of the basic skills in journal reading and clinical research, thus helping him or her to become a better clinician, well-aware of the rapidly changing trends in the field of medicine.

Over a period of time, we aim to cover topics such as the fundamentals of research, paper writing, event overviews, book reviews and, most importantly, common as well as uncommon topics that fascinate the mind of a young developing doctor. By publishing abstracts of the budding researcher, we hope to provide a platform for showcasing the ideas and efforts of the keen undergraduate.

We hope that such an endeavour will attract readers of all levels of the medical fraternity, not only to what they have been and are currently doing, but also to how differently it can be done. We would like to thank the editorial board for giving us this opportunity to express ourselves on an international platform. At the same time, we do look forward to your suggestions, as to how we can make this section more constructive and useful in the forthcoming editions of the JPGM. So come, and take a look. We are sure it′ll be worth your while.
